 Year 8 Curriculum

It is important for the pupil, the parent and the teacher that pupils are placed in the most appropriate classes and offered a range of subjects in accordance with the Northern Ireland Curriculum. Class placement is based on information received from the Primary.

School’s Transfer KS2 results and on the basis of an introductory test in English and Maths given discretely during the first week in St. Paul’s College.

After the first week pupils are allocated classes in English and Maths on the basis of their performances in the test. There is continuous assessment in all subject areas throughout Year 8 and pupils can change class groupings on the basis of their work rate. Any pupil experiencing difficulties, in consultation with the school Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), Form Tutor and parents, will be afforded the opportunity of having learning support provision.
