The mission statement of our school “Caring, Co-operating,
Challenging” emphasises our commitment to creating a warm,
welcoming environment where pupils feel confident in their
ability to learn, achieve and make progress. We have high
expectations of all our pupils and believe in challenging them
so that they achieve their full potential. The core values of our
school are inspired by the life of Jesus Christ and the teaching
of St. Paul after whom the school is named.
We want our pupils to develop:
• Respect for themselves, each other and
the environment
• A sense of justice, honesty and truth
• Tolerance and understanding
• Community spirit and a social conscience
• Empathy and compassion for others
In order to help pupils develop these values we are committed
to creating in St. Paul’s a faith community that actively
promotes, develops and extends the spiritual and moral
development of the young people in our care. The College is
very proud of having initiated, developed and delivered a new
under 16 Faith Development Course called ‘The Ambassadors
of St. Paul Certificate’. This new certificate piloted in St. Paul’s
was made available to all schools in the Derry Dioceses in
September 2010. The Certificate is a forerunner to the John
Paul II Award carried out at post 16. The introduction of the
Certificate highlights the fact that our Faith is central to all that
we do in St. Paul’s College:
